THE SACRED SISTERHOOD

Drawing love spells and brewing magic potions together with sisters, business partners and power babes Mariángeles and Paul Aguirre from the edgy Berlin based tHERAPY.

Therapy Recycle & Exorcise was born in Berlin, in 2012. Mariángeles has been a vintage fashion, antiquities and D.I.Y. lover since can't remember when. Mariángeles always loved to hunt for treasures on flea markets, charity shops and second-hand places, while traveling around. She was also always creating and reworking things by herself.

In 2012 Mariángeles was going through some tougher times and decided what she needed was to get creative and to push away everything negative and self-destructive. So she put together all these things she had been collecting throughout the years on a table and started reworking and customizing them - almost like an exorcism- she was taking all the bad energy and replacing it with positive by giving new life to things. Images, moments, movies, places and people came together in her mind, turning this process into a huge source of positive inspiration.

A few months later sister Paula joined, inspired by the things Mariángeles had created. Together the sister established a real business out of the initially therapeutic activities. And so the magic was born. And that’s the concept behind the name: a therapy to recycle and exorcise all things negative. To turn old, discarded, abandoned things into new, improved and beautiful. We've learned it creates a huge therapeutic and empowering reaction when we're creating, inventing, imagining and doing things with our hands. Thanks to tHERAPY we went from consuming and being consumed by the search for satisfaction in products, which is a fallacy, to becoming creators and participators.

Our secret recipe for success is simple; we keep doing it all with the same passion as the first day. We are nonstop thinking about new ideas, possible collaborations, searching continuously for challenges and opportunities. tHERAPY is what channels all of our creative energy. And the thing is, we probably have too much energy. tHERAPY became a way to channel, control and balance this energy and use it in a good and productive way. We used to do everything, to take all opportunities and chances. Now we know our energy does have a limit and have learned to say no and yes at the right moment. This was an important lesson we had to learn. Getting where we are now wasn't of course without many setbacks. What kept us going is that we're together in this, we support each other and that makes it easier. Also having our feet in two completely different countries (Germany and Argentina), because what doesn't work here, works there. That helps. But also because we get so much positivity that the negativity does not affect us that much. Only enough to rethink, recalculate and redirect the energy in better ways.

We're in a good place with tHERAPY,  right now we're taking the next steps and partnering with exciting retailers and are setting up collaborations with artists. The dreaming and wanting to create more things never stops. We have a curiosity for technology and are active in more remote fashion areas too, like wearables.

Through our fashion we're able to voice our believes. We want to make people aware of the possibility of using clothing as a tool to communicate with others and with themselves. Clothing is mostly thought as a mask, a symbol of a certain status or pertinence. Something superficial or even banal. Or something just practical. But we can use it in a more intelligent, organic, playful, creative and honest way. Everything we're doing and creating comes from a place of authenticity and is pure, we truly believe in what we do. It's so honest that it can't fail.
